Fadnavis recalled that Pune was among the first to implement CCTV surveillance in August 2015, and the city is now seeing a major upgrade with cutting-edge cameras, including night vision technology. These cameras will assist in crime prevention, help monitor traffic flow, and improve law enforcement response.

The newly launched command and control centre will enable immediate tracking of offenders. Fadnavis mentioned that even if someone tries to flee after committing a crime, they can be caught quickly through this system. Commenting on the system’s reach, he humorously said it reminded him of the song “Bach ke rehna re, tujh pe nazar hai.”

Addressing concerns raised by Deputy CM Ajit Pawar about technical failures, Fadnavis assured that if any camera stops working, an alert will be triggered instantly and it must be fixed within 24 hours. To ensure daily monitoring, the Commissioner has been instructed to play a Shivaji Maharaj-themed powada song on the system daily, which will act as a health check of the system.
