Pune: After eight years of construction delays, the much-awaited e-learning school at Amenity Space, Survey No. 19 Part, on Katraj-Kondhwa Road is set to open in June. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has confirmed that preparations are underway, following directives from the Municipal Commissioner to the Education and Electrical Departments.
Long-Pending Construction Nears Completion
The project began in 2016, a year after it was approved for a five-floor structure. Over the years, progress was hindered due to phased funding allocations. As of now, construction of the lower ground, lower parking, upper ground, and first floor has been completed. Work on the second floor is ongoing, with the aim of finishing 18 classrooms and sanitation facilities.
To ensure timely completion, the Municipal Commissioner has instructed the Building Construction Department to hand over at least two fully functional floors before April 2025. Following these orders, construction activities have been accelerated.
School to Open on Two Floors in June
The Education Department has been directed to initiate school operations on the completed floors, while the Electrical Department has been asked to finalize the electrical work tendering process. As a result, it is now confirmed that the school will begin functioning in June 2025 for the upcoming academic year.
Beneficial for Underprivileged Students
The school is expected to serve students from low-income families in Sukhsagarnagar, Sainagar, Gokulnagar, Shivshambhunagar, Kakadevasti, Tilekarnagar, and Katraj. Local organizations involved in the project have expressed satisfaction that at least two floors are nearing completion and will soon be available to students.
