Pune: The 10th-anniversary celebration of Giripremi, a leading mountaineering organization, was marked by a call for the expansion of mountaineering education in schools. Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar, the chief guest at the event, emphasized the need for proper planning and education in mountaineering, stating that such training would help in nation-building.

Leaders and Experts Highlight the Importance of Mountaineering Education

Speaking at the event, Phansalkar stressed that mountaineering involves extensive planning, from financial arrangements to equipment management. He noted that if students receive such education in schools, they will develop strong discipline and leadership qualities. He further emphasized the need to establish and expand institutions like Giripremi to nurture future adventurers.

The event saw the presence of several distinguished personalities, including Dr. Pramod Chaudhari (Executive Chairman, Praj Industries Limited), Retired Air Marshal Bhushan Gokhale, Brigadier Ashok Abbe, Colonel Anshuman Bhadoria, Wing Commander Hemchandra Singh, Devidatta Panda, Giripremi Founder-Chairperson Usha Prabha Page, Founder-Director Umesh Zirpe, Director Vijay Joshi, Guardian Corporation Director Manish Sabade, Khemraj Thakur, and Jagdish Kadam.

During the event, the handbook of the Guardian Giripremi Institute of Mountaineering (GGIM) was officially released by the esteemed guests. Phansalkar praised Giripremi's mountaineering courses, highlighting their focus on physical fitness, mental alertness, and spiritual energy. He shared a personal anecdote, stating that while he and Umesh Zirpe lived an academic life until the 12th standard, Zirpe later passed the test of life by excelling in mountaineering and leadership.

Dr. Pramod Chaudhari reflected on the hardships faced in establishing Giripremi. He pointed out that mountaineering demands courage, which in turn forms the foundation of entrepreneurship. "Innovation and adventure go hand in hand," he said, expressing confidence that Giripremi’s work would continue to expand significantly in the coming years.

The event was hosted by Dr. Amit Tribhuvan, while Bhushan Harshe delivered the vote of thanks.
