Pune: The Mahayuti government in Maharashtra has finalized its much-awaited list of guardian ministers. Among the appointees, three prominent MLAs from Pune have been entrusted with significant responsibilities. BJP MLA Madhuri Misal, who represents the Parvati assembly constituency, is among the leaders who have earned this opportunity.
Pune city is represented by 8 MLAs, while the district has a total of 21 MLAs. Out of these, three MLAs—Ajit Pawar (NCP, Baramati), Chandrakant Patil (BJP, Kothrud), and Madhuri Misal (BJP, Parvati)—were sworn in as ministers earlier. Their prominence in state politics has now been reaffirmed with the announcement of their roles as guardian ministers.
Ajit Pawar, one of the senior leaders of the NCP, has been named the guardian minister for Pune district. Chandrakant Patil has taken charge as the guardian minister for Sangli district.
BJP’s Madhuri Misal has been assigned as the co-guardian minister for Kolhapur, where she will work alongside Prakash Abitkar. Additionally, Hasan Mushrif, MLA from Kagal in Kolhapur, has been entrusted with the role of guardian minister for Washim district.
Ajit Pawar’s Dual Role in Pune and Beed
Ajit Pawar has also taken charge as the guardian minister for Beed district. This decision comes after Parli MLA Dhananjay Munde was removed from the post amid political and social opposition. The controversies surrounding Munde included the murder case of Santosh Deshmukh, sarpanch of Masajog in Beed, and increasing criminal activities in the district.
