The discord in the family of RJD leader Lalu Yadav seems to be intensifying following the electoral defeat, as his daughter Rohini Acharya has leveled new accusations against her kin. Acharya, who donated a kidney to her father in 2022, claims that her family accused her of purchasing an election ticket in return for a 'tainted kidney.'

The 46-year-old leader from the RJD has cut off relations with her family and declared her departure from politics yesterday. This marks the second major issue for the Yadav family following the expulsion of the elder son, Tej Pratap, from the party. Tej Pratap subsequently established his own party and ran an unsuccessful independent campaign in the Bihar elections.

In a pair of heartfelt posts this morning, Acharya became emotional as she recounted her experiences within the family.

The former politician, who departed for Singapore last night, recounted an incident from yesterday where they were insulted and accused of having their father receive a transplant of their own 'dirty' kidney, allegedly taking crores of rupees, purchasing a ticket, and facilitating the transplant of that kidney. The RJD had nominated Acharya from Saran for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, but she was defeated.

Acharya described it as a 'sin' that she opted to donate a kidney to save her father instead of prioritizing her husband and children. 'For me, it turned into a grave sin that I neglected my family, my three children, and didn't seek approval from my husband or in-laws before donating the kidney... I acted to save my god, my father, and now it's being labeled as disgraceful... May none of you ever commit an error like mine, may no family ever have a daughter like Rohini,' her post stated.

In a different post, she claimed she faced "vile insults" and someone brandished a slipper at her. She stated, "I did not compromise my dignity, nor did I abandon the truth, and because of this, I had to face this humiliation," expressing a hope that no family would ever have a daughter like her. "Yesterday, a daughter, driven by necessity, left her weeping parents and sisters behind and departed; they tore me away from my childhood home... They left me without a family... May none of you ever follow my path, may no family ever have a daughter-sister like Rohini," she remarked.

BJP's 'Male-Dominated' Remark

The BJP criticized the RJD following Acharya's departure, claiming that Lalu Yadav showed preference for his son Tejashwi even after his daughter donated a kidney to him. Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP's IT cell, referred to the slipper incident and characterized the Lalu Yadav family as having a 'patriarchal, anti-woman, and male-dominated mindset.'

Rohini Acharya selflessly donated her kidney to her father, Lalu Prasad, prioritizing his life over her own. However, Lalu seemed to favor his son Tejashwi over acknowledging Rohini's sacrifice. Currently, Rohini Acharya is openly claiming that she was even subjected to being hit with slippers within the family. This situation highlights the patriarchal, anti-woman, and male-centric mindset prevalent in the Lalu family. Expecting respect for women from them is also deemed inappropriate, according to Malviya.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha criticized the Yadav family, stating, 'The chaos seen outside the RJD is mirrored within the family itself. Individuals with such a mindset, who are unable to maintain unity within their own family, how can they govern Bihar? Although it is a personal issue, we will refrain from commenting further, but this mindset will determine their future,' he remarked.

Chirag Paswan, an ally of the BJP, declined to comment and expressed that he regards all the Yadav children—Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap, Misa Bharti, and Rohini Acharya—as siblings. He stated, "I have experienced similar situations. Despite our political disagreements, I have always viewed Lalu ji's family as my own. Whether it's Tejashwi, Tej, Misa, or Rohini, I have always seen them as my siblings. Therefore, I hope this family conflict is resolved soon," he added.
