On Thursday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis unveiled the 'Invest Maharashtra' platform, emphasizing its aim to position the state as a leading investment hub both within India and internationally.
He stated that the government would take charge of coordinating land, power, infrastructure, approvals, and skilled workforce for various projects.
Fadnavis assured that the administration would adopt a comprehensive approach to fulfill all investor needs once a project is chosen.
The Chief Minister stated that the platform's identity, 'Made for Business,' emphasizes the importance of the government recognizing the value of investors' time, taking accountability for addressing issues, and supporting investors throughout the project's lifecycle, including its expansion.
Fadnavis called on major industries to ensure that the advantages of their investments extend to local small and medium businesses, suppliers, young people, and farmers.
He urged major corporations to create opportunities for local enterprises within their supply chains and collaborate with institutions to equip young people with essential skills.
Proposals for investment have been submitted from Chandrapur, Wardha, Nagpur, Gondia, Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Pune, Ahilyanagar, Ratnagiri, Palghar, and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The objective is to promote equitable development throughout Maharashtra, he stated.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has finalized the Existing Land Use (ELU) process for approximately 2,100 square kilometers to facilitate the development of Mumbai-3 and Mumbai-4, Fadnavis said.
He emphasized that this marks the fastest ELU process ever accomplished in India, establishing a solid foundation for the organized growth of these cities.
Fadnavis further mentioned that Maharashtra aims to achieve a USD 1 trillion economy by 2030, capitalizing on opportunities stemming from India's advancements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He stated that the goal was to create more efficient industries, boost incomes, strengthen districts, and instill greater confidence in young people to shape their future in Maharashtra, citing initiatives like Education City, Medicity, and AI and Innovation City.
Fadnavis stated that the initiatives were designed to integrate industry, skills, research, healthcare, and technology. He also encouraged industries to assist in water conservation efforts in regions struggling with inadequate rainfall.
Additionally, he urged companies to generously support the Chief Minister's Relief Fund and leverage their research and engineering capabilities for water conservation, efficient irrigation, and wastewater recycling.
'Invest Maharashtra' will serve as Maharashtra's leading institution for industrial investment promotion and facilitation, integrating investment promotion, facilitation, global collaborations, research, analysis, and investor relationship management into one unified platform, stated Industry Principal Secretary P Anbalagan.
The initiative aims to emphasize areas like global capability centers, gems and jewelry, animation, visual effects, comics and gaming, bamboo, bioplastics, electronics, and semiconductors, while also encouraging balanced regional growth in developing districts, he stated.
During the Maharashtra Investment Summit, 67 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed, representing proposed investments totaling ₹8,57,452 crore and an anticipated creation of 2,91,109 jobs.
