

Pune, 6th July 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for the Mumbai-Pune region, the Konkan coast, and the ghat areas for the next two days, forecasting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. Citizens have been advised to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in vulnerable locations.
In Pune district, the ghat regions are expected to receive intense rainfall and have been placed under a Red Alert, while Pune city remains under a Yellow Alert. The weather department has warned that heavy showers could trigger waterlogging, flash floods, and landslides in hilly areas over the next 48 hours.
In view of the forecast, the district administration has appealed to residents to stay updated through official weather bulletins and strictly follow instructions issued by local authorities. People have been advised to avoid venturing into flood-prone areas, riverbanks, waterfalls, and mountainous regions during the warning period.
To strengthen emergency preparedness, the administration has also released key disaster management helpline numbers. Residents are urged to immediately contact the concerned authorities in case of flooding, landslides, road blockages, or any other rain-related emergency.
