Pune: Researchers at MIT-World Peace University (MIT-WPU), Pune have developed a state-of-the-art IoT-enabled pill dispenser aimed at improving medication adherence and enhancing healthcare efficiency. The innovative device integrates smart automation and real-time remote monitoring to assist individuals managing complex medication regimens.

Traditional pill dispensers often require manual handling and lack remote tracking capabilities. Addressing these limitations, MIT-WPU’s solution features a modular design, an equilateral container, a motorized dispensing system, and a smart controller that enables users to schedule medication dispensing precisely while allowing caregivers to track adherence remotely.

Explaining the significance of this advancement, Dr. Amol Tagalpallewar, Professor at MIT-WPU’s School of Pharmacy, stated, “Ensuring consistent medication adherence is a significant challenge, particularly for individuals with complex medical conditions. Our IoT-powered dispenser automates the process and provides remote monitoring, offering patients and caregivers better control over medication schedules and overall well-being.”
