Pune: The murder of Satish Wagh, whose body bore 72 stab wounds, has taken a shocking turn as police investigations reveal that the initial plan was only to cripple him. Pune Police have arrested Wagh's wife, Mohini Wagh, for masterminding the murder, and she remains in police custody.
The couple's strained relationship reportedly stemmed from Satish Wagh's alleged extramarital affairs and his refusal to provide household financial support.
Mohini, too, was allegedly involved in a romantic relationship with a young man, Akshay Jawalkar, who lived nearby. These issues led to frequent domestic disputes, with Mohini reportedly being subjected to physical abuse.
Harboring resentment, Mohini decided to eliminate Satish. She collaborated with Akshay and paid ₹5 lakh to hire contract killers. The plan was to cripple Satish by breaking his limbs, forcing him to remain homebound and giving Mohini control over the family finances.
On December 9, the assailants kidnapped Satish Wagh. Fearing the political ramifications, the attackers decided to kill him instead. Satish was brutally stabbed 72 times.
This was not Mohini's first attempt to have her husband killed. She had previously tried to hire someone for the same purpose, but the plan failed. With Akshay's assistance, she successfully plotted and executed the murder this time. Pune Police have arrested Mohini, and the court has remanded her to custody until December 30.
