Pune: The much-anticipated Shivajinagar State Transport (ST) station is set to be developed at its original location. The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has submitted its plan to MahaMetro, which will execute the project on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. An agreement between the two organizations is expected soon, paving the way for construction to begin.
MLA Siddharth Shirole and MahaMetro Executive Director Shravan Hardikar held discussions with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Monday (December 23) regarding the relocation of the ST station. Shirole highlighted the need to shift the station, which is currently operating from Wakdewadi, back to its original Shivajinagar location to better serve commuters.
Deputy CM Pawar immediately consulted State Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik over the phone and directed him to prioritize the matter. Following the discussions, Pawar instructed MahaMetro officials to expedite the station’s relocation and ensure its timely completion.
The project is a collaborative effort between MSRTC and MahaMetro, with the agreement in its final stages. MahaMetro will oversee the construction, and both organizations have pledged to work diligently to complete the station as soon as possible.
Speaking to the media, MLA Shirole stated, “Efforts are being made to expedite the relocation project. The new Shivajinagar ST station will be constructed by MahaMetro under a PPP model, and we are committed to resolving all pending issues swiftly.”
The decision to bring the station back to its original location is expected to significantly improve accessibility and convenience for commuters in Shivajinagar.
