
Pune: A tragic road accident on Sunday (January 12) morning claimed the life of a young woman and left the motorcyclist critically injured on the Pune-Satara Highway near Shindewadi village. The incident occurred when a speeding truck hit their two-wheeler from behind.
The deceased has been identified as Rubal Rajivkumar Sinha (25), a native of Koraput, Odisha, who was residing in Manjari, Pune. She was traveling with her friend, Shahoud Ejaz Ahmed Sheikh, to Mahabaleshwar. Their two other friends, Mohammad Salman Sheikh and Shahrukh Ali Sheikh, accompanied them on a separate motorcycle.
At approximately 8:45 AM, the group had crossed the Nira River bridge near Sarola and entered the limits of Shindewadi village. Suddenly, a truck rammed into the motorcycle carrying Shahoud and Rubal. Shahoud fell to the left with the motorcycle, while Rubal, who was riding pillion, fell to the right and was crushed under the truck's wheels.
Rescue Efforts
Salman and Shahrukh, who were riding the second motorcycle, immediately summoned an ambulance and rushed the injured to the hospital. Unfortunately, Rubal was declared dead upon arrival, while Shahoud sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment.
Police Action
Following a complaint by Mohammad Salman Sheikh, the Shirwal police registered a case against the truck driver, identified as Sonukumar Nagendrasingh of Sangam Nagar, Wadala, Mumbai. Inspector Sandeep Jagtap and his team promptly reached the scene, managed the traffic, and initiated further investigation.
