New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor slammed the BJP after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman conducted the Budget Session for 2021-22.
Slamming the BJP government, MP from Thiruvananthapuram on his Twitter said, “This BJP government reminds me of the garage mechanic who told his client, “I couldn’t fix your brakes, so I made your horn louder.” #Budget2021”
Earlier Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also said that Budget must Support MSMEs, farmers and workers to generate employment. Rahul Gandhi in his tweet said, #Budget2021 must: Support MSMEs, farmers and workers to generate employment -Increase Healthcare expenditure to save lives -Increase Defence expenditure to safeguard borders.”

On Monday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman did not declare any major alteration in personal taxation in Budget 2021. There were no changes in income tax slabs, PPF limit, Section 80C exemption. This comes despite experts asking for amplified money in the hands of the salaried class to boost consumption.

The Congress recently also criticised BJP over FIRs registered against Shashi Tharoor and six journalists. Apart from Tharoor and six journalists - Mrinal Pande, Rajdeep Sardesai, Vinod Jose, Zafar Agha, Paresh Nath and Anant Nath have been booked by Delhi police over their allegedly false tweets on the violence during the farmers' tractor rally in Delhi on January 26.
