Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has called off his planned performances in Whitefield after facing intense resistance from Hindutva activists, the police said on Monday.
He visited the Whitefield police station on Sunday and informed the authorities that he would not go ahead with his scheduled shows, they said.
This development follows a recent petition submitted by the Hindu Rashtra Samanvaya Samiti to the Bengaluru Police, seeking the cancellation of Kamra’s stand-up show scheduled for August 3 at URU Whitefield.
The group argued that the event posed a risk to law and order and could disturb religious harmony, alleging that Kamra had shown disrespect toward Hindu deities.
Meanwhile, Kamra announced on X that the venue for his show on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday has been changed to Koramangala.
