Pune: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Police Department has announced that vehicles parked in "No Parking" zones or obstructing traffic flow will be fined heavily, including towing charges and GST.
Citizens are advised to park responsibly as the fines for two-wheelers and four-wheelers are now ₹736 and ₹972, respectively.
Revised Penalty Structure
The fines have been revised to impose stricter penalties on violators.
Two-Wheelers: ₹500 fine + ₹200 towing charges + ₹36 GST = ₹736
Four-Wheelers: ₹500 fine + ₹400 towing charges + ₹72 GST = ₹972
Traffic officers will verify whether towed vehicles have any outstanding fines. At least one pending fine and the latest penalty must be paid before the vehicle is released. Previously, a flat penalty of ₹776 was levied across vehicle types. The new system ensures fines are tailored to vehicle categories.
The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate oversees several bustling zones, including industrial areas like Chakan, Bhosari, and Talegaon; IT parks in Hinjewadi and Talawade; and pilgrimage destinations such as Dehu and Alandi.
The city also hosts major markets, educational institutions, and business hubs, leading to heavy vehicular movement. Despite the availability of parking facilities, some motorists violate rules, parking indiscriminately and causing severe traffic congestion.
Focus on Discipline and Compliance
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Bapu Bangar emphasized that the initiative is aimed at enforcing parking discipline and easing traffic flow. "Vehicles obstructing traffic or parked in prohibited zones will be penalized. Adherence to parking norms is essential for maintaining order on city roads," he stated.
