PCMC Asks Housing Society Presidents to Display Property Tax Defaulter Lists Prominently

Pune: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has intensified its efforts to recover ₹69.56 crore in outstanding property tax dues from newly assessed housing societies. As part of this drive, the tax assessment and collection department has provided society presidents with a detailed list of defaulters, including names and pending amounts, urging them to facilitate the recovery process.

A comprehensive property survey is being conducted by a private consultancy firm to identify unregistered properties. This survey has revealed 64,260 properties, leading to new tax assessments. Among these, tax bills amounting to ₹69.56 crore have been issued to owners in 651 housing societies.

Key Actions Taken:

• Society presidents are instructed to display defaulter lists on prominent notice boards and share them in society WhatsApp groups.

• Defaulters are encouraged to pay their dues promptly, with the municipal corporation emphasizing the use of online payment systems.

• The tax department has consistently reminded property owners through SMS, telephonic communication, and bill distribution.

• Municipal Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil appealed to society presidents to cooperate by motivating members with pending dues to clear them without delay.

"The list of defaulters, including their pending amounts, is being sent to society presidents. They are advised to display these prominently and encourage members to settle their dues promptly. This will help streamline property tax collections," said Avinash Shinde, Assistant Commissioner, Tax Assessment and Collection Department, PCMC.
