Pune: In a swift response to a citizen’s concern, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis suspended a MSRTC bus driver for using his mobile phone while driving. The decision followed a tweet from a passenger, which quickly drew the attention of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

The incident occurred on a Pune-to-Dadar Shivshahi bus earlier today. Passenger Nitin Godbole, who was onboard, observed the driver engaged in frequent phone conversations while driving. Alarmed by the apparent safety risk, Godbole intervened, requesting the driver to put down his phone. Despite the warning, the driver continued to use his phone.

Frustrated by the negligence, Godbole took a clear photograph of the driver using his phone behind the wheel. He then posted the image on X (formerly Twitter), tagging the official CMO account and seeking guidance on where to report such misconduct.

The post quickly gained traction, prompting an immediate response from the Chief Minister. Fadnavis instructed relevant authorities to investigate the matter. Based on the evidence, a case was registered against the driver, and he was subsequently suspended.

The decisive action by the CM has been widely applauded. Many citizens have praised Fadnavis for prioritizing public safety and ensuring strict accountability for irresponsible behavior by public transport drivers.
