Pune, 29 August 2025: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) announced its draft ward structure on August 22 for the upcoming civic elections. Citizens can file objections and suggestions until September 4. The draft map has been published on the civic body’s official website as well as at the main PCMC building and all eight zonal offices.
The draft largely mirrors the 2017 election wards. However, residents of Chakrapani Vasahat in Bhosari have raised objections. Around 3,500 voters from this locality, including Akshaynagar, Anandnagar, Sant Tukaramnagar and Bawann Khole, have been attached to Ward 3 (Moshi-Chikhali).
Locals argue that the area should instead be linked to Ward 5 for better geographical continuity, since parts of Chakrapani Vasahat are already included there.
Many residents feel that candidates from Moshi and Chikhali have difficulty maintaining regular contact with them. Adding to their concern, the merged area also includes parts of the "red zone," which remains non-residential and separates the community from the rest of the ward. Citizens say this weakens representation and are preparing to formally lodge objections.
So far, only two official objections have been received. The first suggests that Ward 8 should be renamed “Indrayani Nagar and Sant Nagar.” The second demands that Ward 21 be reserved for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes due to its demographic composition.
According to PCMC election officials, suggestions are being accepted at the election office on the ground floor of the PCMC headquarters as well as at all eight regional offices. Work on finalizing polling stations is also underway.
