Pune, 29 August 2025: In a major step for higher education, the Maharashtra government has approved a new satellite campus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur at Moshi in Pimpri-Chinchwad. The campus will come up on a 70-acre site, making Pune the latest city to join India’s network of top management institutions.

The decision was finalized after several review meetings chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Pune, Mumbai, and Nagpur. Officials said the land allocation at Moshi will help speed up the development of the campus and bring world-class management education closer to Pune’s industrial and business hubs.

Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said the project marks an important milestone for the region. He noted that Pimpri-Chinchwad, with its strong industrial base and excellent connectivity to Mumbai and Pune, is an ideal location for such an institute.

Often referred to as the ‘Oxford of the East,’ Pune is already home to leading universities, research centres, IT firms, and auto-manufacturing clusters. The new IIM campus is expected to attract students from across India, drive innovation, and strengthen collaboration between industry and academia.
