Pune: In a move aimed at enhancing law enforcement and administrative efficiency, a proposal has been submitted to the Home Department to integrate four police stations—Wadgaon, Kamshet, Lonavala City, and Lonavala Rural—currently under Pune Rural Police, into the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. If approved, this expansion will significantly boost the Commissionerate’s operational scope and resources.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, established on August 15, 2018, initially operated with 14 police stations. Over time, new stations were added, including Chikhali, Ravet, Shirgaon, and Mahalunge MIDC. Recently, the Commissionerate underwent another expansion with the creation of Kalewadi, Bavdhan, Sant Tukaram Nagar, and Dapodi police stations, bringing the total count to 22.

The Commissionerate currently covers an area of 115 square kilometers with a population of approximately 4 million. Its jurisdiction includes major industrial hubs such as Alandi-Markal, Talawade, Bhosari, Chakan, and Talegaon Dabhade.

Maval Taluka, known for its natural beauty and tourist attractions like Lonavala and Kamshet, has seen rapid urban and industrial growth in areas like Wadgaon and Talegaon Dabhade. However, existing resources under Pune Rural Police have struggled to meet the increasing demands of law enforcement in these areas.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate is renowned for its advanced infrastructure, technological capabilities, and efficient service delivery. Police stations like Dehu Road, Talegaon Dabhade, and Talegaon MIDC in Maval Taluka are already part of its jurisdiction.

Adding the remaining four stations—Wadgaon, Kamshet, Lonavala City, and Lonavala Rural—will further streamline operations and benefit citizens by providing faster and more efficient policing services.

Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey stated, “With the addition of these four stations, we will ensure better law and order management in Maval Taluka. The Commissionerate's advanced resources and personnel will allow us to deliver quicker and more effective assistance to residents.”
