Pimpri: A woman traffic police officer was allegedly assaulted by two individuals, including a woman, after their vehicles were towed for being parked in a no-parking zone. The incident occurred on Saturday, December 14, around 12:15 PM on Link Road near Elpro Mall in Chinchwad.
The suspects, identified as Milind Rajendra Pawar (33, resident of Khadki) and a 28-year-old woman from Walhekarwadi, Chinchwad, reportedly confronted Traffic Police Officer Supriya Borhade. She was on duty with a towing van and was engaged in removing vehicles parked illegally in the no-parking zone.
When the suspects discovered that their vehicle had been towed, they demanded its release. Officer Borhade explained that they needed to pay the prescribed fine and collect their vehicle from the traffic department office as per regulations. This response enraged the suspects, who began verbally abusing her and subsequently assaulted her.
During the altercation, Borhade’s mobile phone fell to the ground and was damaged. Additionally, the suspects blocked the towing van and tried to coerce her into releasing their vehicle, obstructing her official duties.
Following Borhade’s complaint, the Chinchwad Police registered a case against the suspects under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including those related to obstruction of government work, assault, and criminal intimidation. Assistant Police Inspector Vitthal Karambalkar is leading the investigation.
