Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has intensified its anti-encroachment operations in the Nagar Road area following directives from the Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale. Over the past three days, coordinated efforts by officials from Zone 1 have led to action against more than 200 unauthorized commercial establishments.
In prominent areas like Mantri Market and Kharadi Bypass, 102 unauthorized structures, including handcarts, stalls, counters, and shanties, were removed. On Wednesday (January 15) afternoon, as part of the ongoing operation, the Building Control Department demolished 30 unauthorized stalls near Gera Barclays in the Kharadi IT Park area using JCB machines.
The aggressive actions of the Building Control and Encroachment Departments have left unauthorized business owners visibly shaken. Additionally, the operation extended to Tadiwala Road, Dhole Patil Road, and Saurabh Hall areas, where 72 unauthorized handcarts, stalls, counters, and shanties were cleared.
The campaign was carried out under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Zone 1. Junior engineers Mangesh Gaikwad and Umesh Godge from the Building Control Department, along with regional encroachment inspector Subhash Talekar, led the efforts.
Officers and staff from the Nagar Road, Yerawada-Kalas-Dhanori, and Dhole Patil ward offices joined hands to ensure the operation's success. The PMC has made it clear that strict action will continue against unauthorized establishments to ensure compliance with municipal regulations.
