30 missing road links in Pune will be connected to ease traffic congestion, adding 60 km of roads after completing 12 km of key connections.
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will spend ₹1,000 crore on the project, with compulsory land acquisition for key stretches.
These links will improve connectivity across Kothrud, Baner–Pashan, Kondhwa, Nagar Road, Kharadi, Mundhwa–Hadapsar, Sinhagad Road, and Satara Road.
Pune, 14 August 2025: Pune is set to get a major boost in road connectivity as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved plans to connect 30 missing road links across the city. The aim is to reduce traffic congestion and provide alternative routes in some of the most crowded areas.
According to PMC officials, the project will add 60 kilometres of roads once the planned links are completed, including 12 kilometres of critical stretches that are currently missing. The total cost is estimated at ₹1,000 crore, and land acquisition will be carried out on a compulsory basis where required.
These missing links will connect key points in neighbourhoods such as Kothrud, Baner–Pashan, Kondhwa, Nagar Road, Kharadi, Mundhwa–Hadapsar, Sinhagad Road, and Satara Road. For example, new routes will link Eklavya College to Sutarwadi Bus Depot, Chaudhary Vasti to Fun Time Road, and Manik Baug to Sun City in Kothrud–Karvenagar.
Other connections include Baner to Pashan Link Road, VIT College to Kondhwa Road, and Kalyaninagar to Kharadi along the riverside.
The PMC stated that the development will also cover busy areas like Baner–Pashan, Nagar Road, Kondhwa, and Hadapsar, creating alternate routes and reducing bottlenecks at major junctions. By bridging these missing links, officials believe traffic flow will improve significantly, cutting travel time for daily commuters and easing pressure on main roads.
