Pune, 4th September 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has taken a major step to improve the standard of education in its schools. In the first phase, 75 schools will be developed as “model schools,” designed to strengthen both academic quality and overall student development.
Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, while reviewing the education system in a recent board meeting, said that good school buildings and playgrounds alone are not enough, teaching standards must also rise. The upcoming initiative will give equal importance to both the physical and mental growth of students.
To achieve this, a detailed plan is being drafted, and implementation is expected to begin soon. The project will focus on upgrading classrooms, improving teaching methods, and creating better opportunities for learning and extracurricular activities.
Special attention will also be given to schools in the 32 newly merged villages under PMC’s jurisdiction. These schools will see repairs to buildings and playgrounds, along with improvements in basic facilities such as drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene, ensuring a better environment for students.
