To tackle growing traffic congestion in Pune’s Hinjawadi area, PMRDA is planning new alternate roads.
PMRDA Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase met farmers directly to discuss land acquisition and assured fair compensation.
Farmers affected by these projects will be offered options like TDR, direct purchase, and bonus compensation.
Pune, 8th August 2025: In response to the worsening traffic congestion in Hinjawadi and nearby areas like Maan and Marunji, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has initiated the planning of alternate road routes to ensure smoother traffic flow in the future.
As part of this long-term infrastructure solution, PMRDA Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase recently held a meeting with local farmers at the Aundh office. The interaction was aimed at ensuring clarity and coordination in the land acquisition process required for these road projects.
Dr. Mhase assured farmers that the administration is committed to protecting their rights while maintaining transparency. Farmers who voluntarily agree to give up their land will receive 25% additional compensation from the government.
Detailed information was also shared regarding various acquisition models, including direct purchase, consent-based purchase, Transfer of Development Rights (TDR), and Incentive FSI (Floor Space Index).
To further clarify, affected farmers will be eligible for TDR as compensation. A formal appeal in writing has been sent to landowners in areas like Pandavnagar, Maan Gaothan to Phase 3 (T-junction), Laxmi Chowk to Padmabhushan Chowk to Wipro Circle, Mezzanine to Laxmi Chowk, Laxmi Chowk to Marunji, Shindevasti to Jagtap Chowk (Kasarasai Road), and Madhuban Hotel (PMC limits) to Shivaji Chowk.
The PMRDA aims to carry out this project through mutual understanding and structured coordination, ensuring benefits for both the city and its residents.
