Pune, 8th August 2025: In a crackdown on unauthorized constructions, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Wednesday (August 7) demolished an eight-storey illegal building near JK Park in Kondhwa Khurd. Over 5,000 square feet of reinforced cement concrete (RCC) construction was brought down during the operation.

The demolition was carried out by PMC’s special squad, which included 10 laborers, 5 police personnel, 1 JCB machine, 4 breakers, 2 gas cutters, 4 junior engineers, and 2 assistant engineers.

According to PMC officials, the structure was illegally constructed and flats were being sold without proper permissions. After issuing a notice, PMC proceeded with the demolition, stating that the building was now structurally unsafe and should not be used or occupied. Residents have been warned against purchasing flats in such unauthorized buildings.

This action is part of PMC’s ongoing drive against illegal constructions across the city. The civic body has appealed to the public to remain cautious and avoid falling prey to property frauds involving unapproved buildings.

Meanwhile, another unauthorized structure built on a plot reserved for a sports ground in Kondhwa has received a stay order from the court. Although PMC had issued a notice, it did not take timely action, allowing the society behind the construction to secure a legal stay. This has raised concerns about the effectiveness of development reservations and PMC’s resolve in enforcing them.
