Pune: A devotional trip turned into a tragedy when a private bus carrying 46 devotees from Moshi, Pimpri-Chinchwad, met with an accident in Tuljapur Ghat on Wednesday (January 29) evening at 6 PM.

The accident resulted in the death of a female passenger, while 45 others were injured, including 18 in critical condition. The injured have been shifted to Dharashiv Hospital for treatment.

According to reports, the private bus left Moshi at 6 AM on Wednesday, carrying devotees to Tuljabhavani Temple in Tuljapur. After completing their darshan, the bus began its return journey at 6 PM. However, as it passed through a steep turn in Tuljapur Ghat, the driver lost control, causing the bus to overturn on the road.

Upon hearing about the incident, local residents of Tuljapur and police officials rushed to the accident site to rescue the injured and transport them to hospitals.

  • One female passenger lost her life on the spot.

  • 45 others sustained injuries, of which 18 were critically wounded and shifted to Dharashiv Hospital.

  • The remaining injured passengers received treatment at local medical facilities.

  • A medical team from Bhosari was dispatched to help the injured.

  • Several political leaders contacted Dharashiv Guardian Minister Pratap Sarnaik to coordinate relief efforts.

  • A group of volunteers and doctors from Bhosari left for the accident site on Wednesday evening to provide further assistance.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, including whether it was due to driver negligence, road conditions, or mechanical failure.
