Pune: 17-Year-Old Girl Dies After Childbirth; Police Investigate Two Accused

The primary accused, identified as Nikhil, established physical relations with victim. Another minor boy is also accused of similar actions. This led to girl’s pregnancy.

Pune: In a deeply distressing incident, a 17-year-old girl died due to severe weakness after giving birth to a child. The girl had reportedly become pregnant after alleged physical relationships with two individuals, including a minor boy.

Following a complaint lodged by the girl’s mother, the Bibwewadi Police Station has registered a case against the two accused. The incidents leading up to her death are said to have taken place between January and November 25, 2024.

According to the police, the primary accused, identified as Nikhil, allegedly established physical relations with the victim. Another minor boy is also accused of similar actions. This led to the girl’s pregnancy.

While the victim was in Kolhapur, she delivered the baby at home. However, childbirth left her extremely weak. She was admitted to Sassoon General Hospital in Pune for treatment, but despite medical efforts, she passed away.

Police Investigation Underway

Police Inspector Manojkumar Londhe is heading the investigation to determine the roles and responsibilities of the accused. The authorities are also reviewing medical and forensic reports to gather evidence.

Recently in August 2024, Samarth police had detained two minor boys on charges of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl and allegedly video recording the entire incident on mobile. According to the complaint, the victim girl was forced to drink alcohol and lured by her female friend to the suspect's residence in Kalepadal.
