Pune Airport is set to transition its international flight operations to its newly inaugurated terminal starting in the new year. The state-of-the-art terminal, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has already begun handling domestic services, and 60% of airport operations have shifted to the new facility. The remaining 40%, including international flights, still operates from the old terminal.

The phased transition is expected to be completed by January 2025, when international flights will officially operate from the new terminal. This move will allow international passengers to experience world-class amenities and an improved travel experience.

Facilities Enhanced for International Operations

The new terminal has been equipped with advanced facilities and upgraded security systems required for international operations. Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol highlighted the government’s commitment to modernizing airport infrastructure and expanding services to meet passenger needs.

Passengers traveling to international destinations such as Dubai (Sharjah), Singapore, and Bangkok will especially benefit from the transition. Previously, only Dubai had direct connectivity from Pune, but the introduction of flights to Singapore and Bangkok in recent years has significantly increased the airport’s international reach.

Currently, Pune Airport provides direct flight connectivity to three major international destinations: Dubai (Sharjah), Singapore, and Bangkok. The move to the new terminal will streamline these services and provide passengers with access to modern amenities, enhancing their overall travel experience.

Starting January 2025, international flights to all three destinations will operate from the new terminal. This development marks a significant milestone in the airport’s journey toward modernization and will provide much-needed relief to passengers who had previously been restricted to the older terminal.

“We are prioritizing the modernization of airports and expanding facilities to ensure passenger convenience,” said Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol.
