Sydney and Swati were married in November 2014. However, in the following years, Swati reportedly developed a relationship with Chetan More and began living with him without legally ending her marriage with Sydney. Despite this, she continued to assure Sydney that she would return and managed to extract ₹15.18 lakh from him over time.

When Sydney began asking for his money back and pleaded with her to return, Swati allegedly responded with threats. She told him, "I will file a rape and harassment case against you, send your family to jail, and if you want me back, send more money."
