Pune, 10th June 2025: The citizens of Dhanori Lohegaon area are paying taxes to the Municipal Corporation. But they are also deprived of basic facilities like clean water, good road sanitation. The Dhanori, Lohegaon Resident Association staged a protest at the door of the Pune Municipal Corporation today against this, as it is not being taken into account despite repeated requests.

Dhanori, Lohegaon are seen as the fastest developing suburbs in the eastern part of the city. Many big construction projects are taking place in this area. The population has also increased to around five lakhs. But the Municipal Corporation is neglecting to provide amenities to the citizens of this area.

The societies in this area have to spend at least five to six lakh rupees every month for tankers. There are two-three feet potholes on the roads. Due to this, many people have been injured in accidents. Similarly, ambulances are also facing obstacles. Complaints in this regard have been made repeatedly to the regional office, but the officials are not taking any notice.

Dhanori, Lohegaon Resident Association has previously staged protests in Dhanori Lohegaon area four times. But since the voice of these citizens was not reaching the senior officials of the Municipal Corporation, a protest was held in front of the Pune Municipal Corporation today.

Association President Girish Jaiwal said that there are four and a half hundred societies in Dhanori, Lohegaon area. All these societies have to ask for water through tankers. Each society spends five to six lakh rupees per month, in a year they have to spend hundreds of crores on water alone. Due to this, maintenance has increased significantly.

Today, protests were held in front of the Municipal Corporation building. A statement has been given to Additional Commissioner Pradeep Chandra in this regard and a demand has been made to solve the problem.

Association Vice President Prasanna Patil said, another child has fallen into the pothole got 22 stitches. There are many such accidents. There are big potholes on the roads in many areas including Porwal Road, Bharat Mata Chowk, Nirgudi Road, Maitri Park. But the municipal administration is not paying attention to this, then why should we pay taxes?, Patil asked.
