Pune, 4th October 2025: In keeping with a long-established Dussehra custom, residents of Pune displayed eagerness for acquiring new vehicles during this festive period. From September 21 to 29, the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) documented 9,531 new vehicle registrations, indicating the city's consistent rise in automobile demand.
The majority of registrations came from two-wheelers (5,438) and four-wheelers (2,554), followed by goods transport vehicles (361), tourist taxis (191), rickshaws (69), buses (17), and other vehicles (87).
A key highlight this year was the rise in electric vehicle (EV) registrations, underlining Pune’s growing preference for sustainable mobility. A total of 814 EVs were registered, including 679 e-two-wheelers, 116 e-cars, 8 e-taxis, 7 e-goods vehicles, and 4 e-rickshaws.
Deputy Regional Transport Officer Swapnil Bhosale said the RTO had made special preparations to ensure smooth registration during the festive rush. He added that the increasing number of electric vehicle buyers shows that Punekars are embracing environmentally friendly choices while celebrating the festival.
This year’s Dussehra not only reflected Pune’s festive zeal but also marked a meaningful step toward eco-conscious celebrations and cleaner transport in the city.
