
Pune: A 42-year-old man has been booked by the Warje Police for misleading the police control room with false information while under the influence of alcohol.
The accused, identified as Nivas Narayan Akole (resident of Ramnagar, Warje), falsely reported that a woman had been sexually assaulted in his locality. Upon investigation, it was confirmed that no such incident had taken place.
False Allegation Triggers Immediate Police Response
The incident occurred on Sunday (March 9) around 2:30 PM, when Akole called the police control room and falsely claimed that a woman had been assaulted in the Ramnagar area of Warje. Crime Branch Inspector Nilesh Badakh and Sub-Inspector R. R. Bharsat were immediately dispatched to the location.
A patrolling police team also arrived promptly to investigate the matter. However, after questioning local residents and verifying the claim, it was revealed that the alleged incident never took place.
Case Filed Under Misleading Information and Prohibition Laws
Upon further investigation, the police confirmed that Akole had provided false information while under the influence of alcohol. Consequently, he has been booked for misleading the police and violating the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. Sub-Inspector R. R. Bharsat is conducting further investigations.
