Pune, 31 July 2025: In a major update for Pune’s Ganeshotsav celebrations, Akhil Mandai Mandal and Shrimant Bhausaheb Rangari Mandal have revised their immersion procession timings for this year.

The two prominent mandals will now take part in the visarjan (immersion) procession on the afternoon of September 6, immediately after the immersion of the city’s five ‘Manache Ganpati’ (honorary Ganpati idols).

Traditionally, these mandals participate in the procession later in the evening or at night. However, with a total Lunar Eclipse (Khagras Chandragrahan) falling on September 7, they have decided to prepone their participation in keeping with religious sentiments and planning considerations.

The immersion procession is a central part of Pune’s Ganesh festival, attracting thousands of devotees and onlookers every year. The early participation of these historic and culturally significant mandals is likely to alter the usual flow of the procession, but officials say it will help ensure a smoother and more organized visarjan given the astronomical event the following day.

This decision has been taken in coordination with the city administration to accommodate both tradition and convenience, and is expected to streamline the grand farewell for Lord Ganesh this year.
