
Pune: In a tragic incident in Pune’s Baner area, a man allegedly stabbed his wife during a domestic dispute and then attempted to take his own life. The incident occurred in a hotel room on January 13, leaving both individuals critically injured.
The injured individuals have been identified as Nasima Mulla (32) and Amjad Yusuf Mulla (39), residents of Chembur, Vishnunagar, Mumbai. A complaint regarding the incident was filed by Ganesh Kacharu Lanke (36), a resident near Jupiter Hospital, Baner, at the Baner Police Station.
According to the police, the couple had traveled to Pune to visit Nasima’s relatives in Baner and were staying at a hotel near Jupiter Hospital. The dispute unfolded on Monday (January 13) morning when an argument escalated in the privacy of their hotel room.
In a fit of rage, Amjad attacked Nasima with a knife and then inflicted injuries on himself by stabbing his neck and abdomen. Both sustained severe injuries.
The couple’s cries alerted the hotel staff, who rushed to the room and found them in a severely injured state. They were immediately transported to a private hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Preliminary police investigations revealed that the incident was triggered by ongoing domestic issues between the couple. Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi visited the scene, and Assistant Police Inspector Anil Kekane is leading the investigation.
