Pune: In a shocking and nauseating incident on Valentine’s Day, a woman who ordered a chocolate shake through a food delivery online platform for her friend ended up receiving a contaminated drink containing a dead baby rat. The horrifying discovery left the recipients in shock.
When they confronted the cafe owner, he allegedly did not address their complaint. Following this, a case has been registered against him at the Vimantal Police Station.
The complaint was filed by a 21-year-old man from Charholi, who stated that his 20-year-old female friend had ordered the chocolate shake from the cafe located in Lohegaon. The accused, identified as Santosh Mahadev More, a resident of Vishrantwadi, has been booked under relevant sections of the law.
According to police sources, while preparing the shake, a dead baby rat had already been inside the mixer jar. Unaware of this, the cafe staff blended the drink and handed it over to the online food delivery platform partner agent for delivery. The complainants realized the contamination only after they had started consuming the shake.
Realizing the potential health risks, they immediately contacted the cafe owner, expecting an apology or explanation. Instead, they were allegedly met with threats and dismissive behavior. Taking the matter seriously, they reported the incident to the police, leading to the registration of a case. The investigation is currently being handled by Police Constable A.S. Adaling, and further action will be taken based on the findings.
