Pune, 28 August 2025: The number of hospitals linked to two major state health schemes, the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, is set to rise in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, and rural areas of the district. Currently, 200 hospitals are empanelled under the Phule scheme, while 445 are covered under the CM Relief Fund.

To expand this network, a special inspection committee has been formed to assess hospitals on parameters such as bed capacity, manpower, and required documentation. The committee includes professors from B.J. Government Medical College along with officials from the district-level CM Relief Fund cell.

The Chief Minister’s Relief Fund provides financial aid for treatment of critical illnesses including heart, liver, kidney, and lung diseases, as well as cancer, joint replacement, cochlear implants, neonatal complications, accidents, burns, and brain disorders. Patients can receive assistance ranging from ₹25,000 to a maximum of ₹2 lakh depending on the illness.

The inspection team has already begun reviewing 14 hospitals in the district. The committee is chaired by Dr. Anita Basavaraj, Professor of Pharmacology at B.J. Medical College, with Dr. Ashish Chavan (Surgery), Dr. Dnyaneshwar Jadhav (Gynecology), and Social Service Superintendent Satyawan Survase as members.

Speaking on the development, Dr. Eknath Pawar, Dean of B.J. Medical College, said that the inspection process for hospital inclusion under both the Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and the CM Relief Fund has already started.
