Pune: The State Transport Department has made High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) mandatory for all vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, in compliance with the Supreme Court’s directive. However, despite 26 lakh vehicles in Pune falling under this category, only about 8,000 vehicle owners have installed the new plates.
To address the low response and ensure smooth implementation, the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) held a meeting with vehicle dealers on Thursday. Representatives from Rosemarta Technologies, the authorized vendor for HSRP installation, were also present to provide guidance.
The meeting was conducted at the Pune RTO office, with around 95 vehicle dealers participating. Officials present from the RTO administration included Regional Transport Officer Archana Gaikwad, Deputy RTO Swapnil Bhosale, Assistant RTOs Yuvraj Patil and Amar Desai. Rosemarta Technologies was represented by Business Head Anurag Chaudhary, along with Sripad Jangam and Nilesh Deshpande.
During the meeting, key concerns regarding fraud prevention and the registration process were discussed. Vehicle owners have been advised to register for HSRP only through the official Transport Department website to avoid scams.
Key Guidelines for HSRP Registration
Register only through the official Transport Department website to prevent fraud.
Ensure a stable internet connection while registering online to avoid disruptions.
It is not mandatory to use the mobile number linked to the vehicle system for registration.
A mobile number is, however, required to receive the OTP (One-Time Password) for verification.
