Pune Police Crime Branch Arrests Karnataka Smuggler with 60 kg Ganja Worth ₹12 Lakh

Pune: The Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Pune Crime Branch has arrested a 28-year-old man from Karnataka for attempting to sell ganja in Pune. The police operation, conducted on Shankarsheth Road, led to the seizure of 60 kg of ganja worth ₹12 lakh.

The arrested suspect has been identified as Nadeem Moiz Shaikh, a resident of Bidar, Karnataka. Shaikh, who works in the fabrication sector, was reportedly involved in drug trafficking. A case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act at Swargate Police Station.

Tip-off and Arrest

The Anti-Narcotics Squad was patrolling Shankarsheth Road when they received credible intelligence about a suspect waiting in a four-wheeler near Seven Loves Chowk (Zole Patil Chowk) with a large quantity of ganja. Acting swiftly, the police intercepted the vehicle and searched it, discovering that the narcotics were hidden inside sacks. The police then seized the vehicle and confiscated the drugs, with the total seizure value amounting to ₹17 lakh.

Police Team Behind the Crackdown

The anti-narcotics operation was executed under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Nikhil Pingle. The team conducting the raid included Police Inspector Ulhas Kadam, Assistant Inspector Aniket Pote, Sub-Inspector Digambar Kokate, and officers Sujeet Wadekar, Sachin Malve, and Sandeep Shirke.

The investigation is ongoing to determine if the accused was part of a larger drug trafficking network.
