With lakhs of devotees expected daily, Pune Police have made extensive security arrangements to manage the massive inflow of visitors from the city, nearby districts, and across Maharashtra.
Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar announced that more than 8,500 personnel, including police officers, CRPF jawans, and Home Guards, will be on duty during the festival. He said the preparations are aimed at ensuring safety and smooth conduct of one of the city’s most significant traditions.

Additional teams from the crime branch, including inspectors and assistant inspectors, will be deployed across sensitive areas. Metro stations in central Pune, particularly in Kasba Peth and Mandai, are expected to see heavy footfall, and police have coordinated with metro officials to manage the crowd and emergency situations.
Alongside these measures, watchtowers, police help centers near major Ganesh mandals, and intensive patrolling at all levels have been set up. The sale of alcohol will be banned on August 27 and September 6.
Commissioner Kumar said that all key mandals have been assigned liaison officers, and known offenders are under preventive action. He emphasized that Pune Police will remain vigilant to ensure the festival passes peacefully and in an atmosphere of devotion and discipline.
