Pune Police have launched a high-tech initiative to monitor over 30,000 habitual offenders using the newly developed "MySafe Database App". This app consolidates detailed profiles of repeat offenders, including their criminal history, contact details, and current status, enabling the police to strengthen crime control measures across the city.

Database for Vigilance

The app lists offenders charged with serious crimes under laws such as MCOCA, murder, attempted murder, drug trafficking, and rape. The data also covers crimes like vandalism, chain snatching, harassment, and trespassing, with a focus on minors frequently involved in these offenses.

Habitual offenders will now be subject to regular inspections every 7–15 days to verify their activities, whether they are pursuing legitimate livelihoods or returning to criminal behavior. Local police stations, crime branch units, and senior officers will collaborate to ensure offenders remain under close surveillance.

Focus on Crime Hotspots

To enhance public safety, police have identified crime hotspots, including areas prone to vandalism, chain snatching, and harassment. Enhanced patrolling will focus on schools, colleges, parks, and hills, with teams like the Damini squad playing an active role in prevention and enforcement.

Aided by Technology

"The use of advanced technology enables us to consolidate data on repeat offenders and frequent crime locations. This initiative helps maximize resources and manpower while ensuring stricter surveillance of habitual criminals," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Shailesh Balkawade.
