Pune, 28 July 2025: Heavy rains in Pune and surrounding areas have prompted authorities to release 25,000 cusecs of water from the Khadakwasla dam into the Mutha River. As a result, several low-lying bridges in the city are now underwater.

The bridge connecting Uttamnagar to Nanded City has been submerged, disrupting local traffic and movement. Earlier, the Bhide Bridge had also gone under water due to the rising river levels.

To avoid any accidents, police have set up barricades on both ends of the affected bridges. Meanwhile, fire brigade officials are actively patrolling riverbank areas. Using megaphones, they are urging citizens to stay away from the river and nearby danger zones.

Authorities have increased dam discharge as a precautionary measure in response to persistent rainfall across the region. Residents living near the river are advised to remain alert and cooperate with emergency services.
