Pune: In a large-scale enforcement operation aimed at disciplining reckless drivers, Pune police deployed nearly 2,000 personnel across the city on Monday (February 24). The massive crackdown, conducted through strategic blockades at multiple locations, led to action against over 1,500 traffic violators within just two hours.

Citywide Traffic Blockade to Curb Violations

With rising cases of traffic rule violations, the Pune Police conducted blockades from 4 PM to 6 PM at key roads, intersections, and high-traffic areas across the city. The operation was led by senior officials, including the Joint Commissioner of Police, four Additional Commissioners, five Deputy Commissioners, ten Assistant Commissioners, and 39 Senior Inspectors from various police stations. A total of 1,872 police personnel participated in the action.

  • Traffic blockades set up at 78 key locations across Pune.

  • 4,187 vehicles inspected during the operation.

  • 1,518 motorists fined for violations like:

  • Driving in the wrong direction.

  • Triple riding on two-wheelers.

  • Failure to wear seat belts.

  • ₹13.65 lakh collected in fines from violators.
