Pune: Shop Selling Counterfeit FastTrack Watches Busted, 175 Units Seized, Owner Booked

Pune: In a crackdown on counterfeit goods, the Pune Crime Branch raided a shop selling counterfeit FastTrack watches and seized 175 watches worth ₹1.75 lakh. A case has been filed against Devjibai Prajapati, a resident of Umaprasad Society, Shaniwar Peth, under the Copyright Act.

Acting on a tip-off, a Crime Branch Unit 1 team, led by Assistant Police Inspector Vijaykumar Shinde, conducted a raid at Chamunda Novelties, a store located in the parking area of Shahabiya Society, Shukrawar Peth. Upon inspection, police found that counterfeit wristwatches were being sold under the FastTrack brand name.

The seized watches have been sent for further examination, and the Faraskhana Police Station has registered a case under copyright violation laws. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the counterfeit network extends beyond the shop.

According to police reports, the businessman was introduced to the accused last July through an acquaintance. The accused claimed to have connections that could help secure admission to a college. After collecting ₹1 lakh, they failed to fulfill their promise.

When the businessman repeatedly inquired about the admission, the accused began making excuses and avoiding him. Upon realizing that he had been deceived, he filed an official complaint with the police. The case is currently being investigated by Assistant Police Inspector Sanjay Pandhare.
