Pune, 19 August 2025: In a major step towards streamlining public transport, PMPML and Pune Metro are set to introduce a unified ticketing system that will allow passengers to book tickets for both services directly from their mobile apps.
The decision was taken after a joint meeting between Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) and Pune Metro authorities. Both organisations agreed to share their ticketing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) so that the systems can be linked.
Confirming the move, PMPML Chairman and Managing Director Pankaj Deore said the initiative would soon be launched. He explained that passengers using PMPML’s ‘Aapli PMPML’ app will be able to buy Metro tickets, while Metro app users will get access to PMPML bus tickets.
Technical teams from both sides are expected to meet this week to finalise the rollout plan and timeline. Once operational, the new feature will eliminate the need for commuters to juggle between different apps or queue at ticket counters.
Currently, PMPML carries around 10 lakh passengers daily, while Pune Metro serves nearly 1 lakh commuters. The integration is expected to benefit this large user base, making travel across the city more seamless.
“This step will make Pune’s transport system more connected and user-friendly, ultimately saving time for passengers,” Deore added.
If the rollout proceeds smoothly, officials believe this initiative could mark a milestone in creating a fully integrated public transport network in Pune.
