Inna Makan, the mother of 23-year-old Sahil Dhaneshra who lost his life in a road accident in Dwarka earlier this month, has declined to accept the apology from the father of the accused minor driver.
Dhaneshra passed away on February 4 after his motorcycle was struck by a fast-moving SUV in Dwarka, West Delhi. The collision was so severe that he died instantly, and an autopsy showed that he had suffered a fractured skull, several broken ribs, and a fractured elbow from the impact with the Scorpio SUV.
'My world can't come back with his sorry'
According to NDTV, she expressed, 'Is the accused's father apologizing for ruining my life? Is he sorry only after I spoke to the media? I regret not accepting his apology.'
"If this happens to his child, will he accept a sorry? My world can't come back with his sorry. What should I do? I have no mornings, no evenings, no reason to go to work, no reason to wake up. Do you think my life will ever come back to normal?" Makan was quoted as saying.
Makan previously claimed that the incident occurred while the accused and his sister, who was in the passenger seat, were filming a video. She expressed that her son's death should serve as a cautionary tale for all parents, advising them against handing over vehicle keys to minors who are not legally qualified to obtain a driving license.
She expressed to NDTV, 'Let my son's sacrifice serve as a lesson for all. Ensure the safety of your children's future. If people fail to learn now, more mothers will continue to lose their children. Perhaps when numerous mothers experience such loss simultaneously, people will finally comprehend.'
Father of the accused minor offers an apology
The father of the accused stated, 'I apologize for my son's mistake and will adhere to the legal process.' He mentioned that the vehicle involved in the collision with Dhaneshra's motorcycle, driven by his son, is part of his transport business. Addressing reports about the vehicle having approximately 13 challans, with 9 for overspeeding, he explained that these were due to the drivers who operate the vehicle.
This is a tragic event. He is extremely upset. The whole family is in profound sorrow, both for that family and for us. We worked with the police. The police requested documents from me. We handed over all the documents. No, I didn't know (that my daughter was making a reel), and it wasn't a reel, but a short video," he stated.
The lawyer for the accused minor states, 'Overwhelmed by Stress'
The defense attorney for the minor defendant stirred controversy by requesting leniency for the teenager, pointing to 'academic stress' and 'trauma.' According to PTI, defense lawyer Lal Singh Thakur stated that the accused is having difficulty concentrating on his board exams and is being harassed with threatening calls after the deadly SUV crash. Thakur contended that the minor's choice to remain at the scene demonstrates praiseworthy conduct despite the seriousness of the event.
Thakur conveyed that the incident on February 3rd was extremely upsetting and regrettable. Being a parent, he sympathizes with the family's continuous stress and trauma. The child, who is scheduled to take his board exams today, is finding it difficult to excel despite being a hardworking student and a gold medalist. Unfortunately, the accident has had a profound impact on his life.
