
Pune: The Pune police are intensifying their investigation into the murder of Hadapsar-based hotelier Satish Wagh, focusing on financial transactions linked to the accused.
The Cantonment Court on Monday (December 30) remanded Wagh's wife Mohini and five others to judicial custody at Yerawada Central Jail, following police submissions about the ongoing probe to identify the mastermind.
Satish Wagh was abducted and murdered on December 10. Following the investigation, the police arrested Mohini Wagh (48), Akshay alias Sonya Harish Jawalkar (29), Pawan Shyamsundar Sharma (30), Navnath Arjun Gursale (31), Vikas alias Vicky Sitaram Shinde (28), and Atish Santosh Jadhav (20). Police investigations revealed that Mohini had paid ₹5 lakh to the accused as a contract to execute the murder.
The police presented the accused in court, requesting permission to examine their bank account details and maintain their right to police custody.
Public Prosecutor Advocate Jyoti Waghmare informed the court that the police were yet to recover the murder weapon and were investigating the financial and technical evidence to establish the primary conspirator.
According to Prosecutor Waghmare, two accused confessed to discarding the murder weapon in the Bhima River at Perne Phata. Despite extensive searches using divers, the weapon remains unrecovered. The court ordered all six accused to be placed in judicial custody for further legal proceedings.
Comprehensive Investigation Underway
The police revealed plans to examine statements from 22 witnesses linked to the case. Weapons used for the murder, including wooden sticks and knives, have been seized along with the car and motorcycle used during the kidnapping. Investigators have also confiscated ₹1.5 lakh in cash, clothing, and mobile numbers of the accused for forensic and technical analysis.
The investigation continues as police work to uncover the full scope of the conspiracy behind the murder.
