India vs England: Joe Root hits 200 in 100th Test, creates history

England skipper Joe Root has become the first cricketer to score a double-century in his 100th Test match. The English captain scored 218 runs on the second day of the opening test match between Indian and England before getting out to Shahbaz Nadeem.

Joe Root went past former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq’s record of the highest score in the 100th Test match. Inzamam had scored 184 runs against India in his 100th Test in Bengaluru in 2005.

He also became the 2nd Test captain to register 150+ scores in three successive Tests since Sir Donald Bradman.

Joe Root, who became the 15th England player to appear in 100 Test matches, made his Test debut in India in 2012. The 30-year-old has scored 8,467 runs at an average of 50
