Pune: A horrifying machete attack in Bibwewadi’s Super Indiranagar area on Monday (January 6) evening has left a young engineer severely injured, with his right palm completely severed. The attack, which also injured the victim's friend, allegedly stemmed from a trivial reason: the victim's habit of staring angrily.

The incident occurred around 4:30 PM at Shivtejas Sports Association Square, where the accused, Sagar Saroj (21), and a minor accomplice, summoned the victims. Upon their arrival, the attackers launched a brutal assault. Piyush Pachkudke (22), an engineer, suffered the most severe injuries.

This is not the first instance of such a violent attack in the area. In May 2023, in Sukhsagarnagar, Bibwewadi, another young man’s palm was severed during a dispute. Emergency medical intervention had saved the victim in that case, as doctors successfully reattached the severed palm.
