Pune: The Maharashtra government has approved the establishment of eight new private Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) from the academic year 2024-2025 on a non-grant basis.
Additionally, seven existing private ITIs have been granted permission to introduce new trades and expand their intake capacity. This development follows the fulfillment of required standards by these institutions, which had initially been denied recognition due to non-compliance.
The Department of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation had earlier denied recognition to 117 institutions due to non-compliance with required standards.
The institutions were notified via email from the Directorate level to rectify these deficiencies. Out of these, 15 institutions have fulfilled the necessary standards, leading to a recommendation from the Directorate to the government, which has since been approved. The concerned institutions have been issued letters of intent under certain conditions.
The courses will operate on a permanent non-grant basis. The institutions must strictly adhere to various guidelines, including trade selection, property ownership, financial status, application process and registration fees, guarantee bonds, institutional resolutions, letters of intent, approvals and affiliations, deposit of security amounts, admission permissions, admission procedures, and training fees.
No additional fees beyond what is stipulated by the government can be charged to the trainees.
Admissions must comply with the prevailing government rules. No admissions beyond the approved capacity for government-approved courses by the Maharashtra government and DGT, New Delhi, will be allowed.
The government has warned that failure to comply with the state government’s orders, or any irregularities concerning admissions, affiliations, or examinations, will result in the immediate cancellation of the institution's letter of intent.
