Pune: A controversy has erupted at ILS Law College, Pune, as students have accused the institution of illegally collecting various educational fees over the past four to five years. According to allegations made by students Mayur Garud and Krishnakant Sathe, the college has profited by crores of rupees through these unauthorized charges.
Speaking at a press conference on March 12, the students revealed that they have formally lodged complaints with the Charity Commissioner’s Office and the Higher Education Department, demanding an investigation into the alleged financial irregularities. Despite previous complaints made to the administration regarding the unauthorized fee collection, the college allegedly continued the practice, prompting students to initiate legal action.
Advocates Vedant Kulkarni, Shubham Shelar, and Prasad Kamthe were also present at the press conference, supporting the students’ claims. Frustrated with the lack of action, the students had planned a protest against the college’s administration and sought police permission to demonstrate. However, their request was denied by the authorities.
ILS Law College Denies Allegations
Responding to the accusations, ILS Law College Principal Deepa Paturkar refuted the claims, stating that no official documents or evidence supporting financial misconduct have been presented so far. She also confirmed that some students had lodged complaints with the Charity Commissioner’s Office, but since the matter is still under review, it would be inappropriate to comment further.
Additionally, the police have issued a warning letter to the students, stating that any unauthorized protests or participation in such demonstrations could result in legal consequences. The college administration has urged other students to refrain from getting involved in the dispute.
